stencil-doc
this shows a color map being applied with a stencil. The front square on the left uses a stencil, and the one on the right does not.
cutout-doc
this shows a color map with a stencil, and transparency being used around the sides.
the example on the left is the final result.
the second sqaure is just a polygon with the color map applied.
the third square is a polygon with alpha transparency applied, but the ambient not turned off.
the final square is transparency and ambient mapped.
glasslabel-doc
my favorate, a label on a glass bottle. The one in the center is the final result.
the back left bottle is just the glass bottle without the map.
the second bottle is the transparency mapped: so it has a black square.
the third back bottle is diffuse mapped with the alpha channel.
and the forth bottle is a bottle just with color, mapped.
(to make this clearer I would probably re-render after taking specular off the last bottle, and reducing the reflectivity on the second back bottle).
